Volunteer levels & specialized roles
General Volunteers
General volunteer opportunities are open to everyone, with no training required. Attend a volunteer orientation to become a Verified Volunteer and unlock more opportunities
Verified Volunteers
Become a Verified Volunteer by completing orientation and at least one shift. You’ll gain access to exclusive opportunities with more hands-on involvement in Beltline programs and events.
Specialized roles
As you get more involved, you may discover additional ways to contribute as a Tour Guide, Fitness Instructor, Subject Matter Expert, or Lead Volunteer. These roles have their own application or training requirements.
Registration, waitlists & cancellations
How do I know if I have a spot?
Once you sign up, check your confirmation email or account overview for your shift details. If you joined a waitlist, you’ll receive a confirmation email when a spot opens and you’re registered.
What if an opportunity is full?
If an opportunity is full, you can join the waitlist if one is available. Only join if you’re available to attend, because you’ll be automatically registered if a spot opens. Check your email for confirmation, and remove yourself from the waitlist if your plans change.
What if I can no longer attend?
Cancel as soon as possible through your account or the link in your email. This helps us plan and gives another volunteer a chance to participate.
Why can’t I sign up?
Some opportunities require additional training or a specific volunteer status. Check the opportunity’s requirements to see whether you’re eligible. If you believe you meet them but still can’t sign up, email volunteer@atlblp.org with the opportunity name and the error message you see.
Shift instructions, weather & accessibility
Where are my shift details?
Review the opportunity page and your latest Know Before You Go email for your arrival time, meeting point, parking instructions, and on-site contact. Your volunteer shift may begin before the public event starts.
What happens if the weather changes?
Your safety comes first. Please don’t risk unsafe travel to attend a volunteer shift in bad weather. We’ll email you about any changes or cancellations, so check your inbox before leaving.
What if I’m late or can’t find the group?
Use the on-site contact information provided in your Know Before You Go email.
Can I ask about an accommodation?
Yes. Review the role’s activities and contact us before registering to discuss accessibility or an accommodation. We can help you understand what the shift involves.
Volunteer hours & service verification
Where can I find my hours?
You can view your volunteer hours in your account overview. Be sure to check in when you arrive at each shift so we can record your hours.
What if hours are missing or incorrect?
Please allow a few days after your shift for attendance and hours to be updated. If your hours are still missing or incorrect, email volunteer@atlblp.org with your name, opportunity name, service date, and hours served.
Can I get a form signed or proof of service?
Yes! Bring your form to your shift for a team member to sign, or email it to volunteer@atlblp.org for an electronic signature.
Can I complete required service hours?
Check each volunteer opportunity’s description to see whether it accepts court-ordered community service.
Group volunteering & clean-ups
Bring your coworkers, classmates, friends, or community group. Visit Group Volunteering to explore options and request a project.
Clean-up group sizes
Each clean-up location or trail segment can accommodate up to 30 volunteers for a two-hour clean-up. Larger groups must split into separate locations or segments.
Supplies & waivers
Groups may request to borrow supplies or bring their own. Your approval email lists the supplies we can provide and any pickup and return instructions. Every participant must complete a waiver.
Changes to your project
Use the project-specific link in your cleanup email to request changes or cancel. Requested changes must be reviewed before they are confirmed.
Teens, guests & pets
Can teens volunteer?
Volunteers ages 14–17 must volunteer with a guardian. Volunteers ages 18 and older may volunteer without a guardian. Any additional age restrictions will be listed on the opportunity page.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes! If the opportunity doesn’t require special training, send your guest the opportunity link so they can sign up, or create a team to register them yourself. Everyone must be registered before attending.
Can I bring my pet?
Please leave pets at home during your volunteer shift, even if the event is outdoors/pet-friendly. Service animals are welcome.
Account access & missing emails
Having trouble signing in?
First, make sure you’ve created a volunteer account. If you have an account, try resetting your password on the sign-in page. If you still can’t sign in, email volunteer@atlblp.org with your name, account email or username, and a description of the issue.
Missing a confirmation email?
Check your spam or junk folder, confirm the email address on your account, and review your registration status in your account. Contact us if you still need help.
